Social media as we all know have become such an important part of our lives that it’s almost inevitable not to be a part of it on internet. Gathering a lot of eyeballs might definitely increase your revenue through advertising but the important question that lurks in my mind is “Is quality of people following you or your company is more important or the quantity?”
I have seen quite a lot of people updating their Facebook status urging friends to like a particular page or group which they are associated to in someway. What i don’t understand is why they want to pull people who are not even interested in that page’s content.
While the message always looks something like “Hey friends, plz like this page plzzzzzzz” shouldn’t it be something like “Hey friends, do check out this page and like it if it interests you. Thanks.”
Recently one of my close friend who is not so close to me anymore, bluntly asked me on facebook chat to like a particular page which i didn’t want to do because it’s content was so out of context that I will not connect to it even remotely ever in my life. No greetings but a blunt message to like the page and even when i did try to make a conversation she went offline. That was rude.
Anyway the point being why do people try to bring a lot of irrelevant crowd which will only increase the number of fans. Is there nobody left in this world who still wants quality over quantity??
P.S – I know more crowd will give more visibility more eye balls more promotion but still how many of them are really interested in your service? Think about it..
